Thung Sri Muang Festival

The Thung Sri Muang Festival is one of the biggest annual festivals and one the most important ones too. It happens every year in december and lasts for two weeks. During it’s duration it is host for many shops, food boothes, music acts, roller coasters and other entertainment possibilities.

Much so much to much to much

The first time I went to Thung Sri Muang Festival (or Tung Si Muang) I was quite overwhelmed be the huge amount of possibilities and it’s pure size. Even some roads close to the festival area have been closed in order to host more boothes and stands. I even came across myfirst Kebab in Thailand which was actually not that bad at all! Even though they added to many sauces. Thai style!

Besides the Kebab wonder Thung Sri Muang has a lot more to offer – of course. There about 1.203 food stands and almost as much clothing and gift shops as well as rollercoasters, bumper cars, giant wheels and more enterainment booths.

Furthermore there are events like Muay Thai competitions, dancing contests and – last but not least – big concerts. In 2010 the final concert was held by Thai Super Rockband Carabao and attracted thousands of people.

Despite all those attractions Thung Sri Muang is also a place for people to gather with friends, hang out, have a good time, take a look at the exhibitions (like plants and king exhibition), learn something and simply be in a good mood. So far it was one of the most impressive festivals I have witnessed since coming to Thailand and I am very thankful for the chance to spent it with my amazing students.
