German Restaurant “Ratsstube” [review]

Very few times per year I end up in a German restaurant here in Bangkok. Usually around Christmas or when friends want to try some “real German food”. This time I decided not to go to my usual feeding grounds but rather try a new place. The “Ratsstube” close to the Goethe Institute around Sathorn Soi 1. Here’s my review. Atmosphere The atmosphere at Ratsstube is a bit weird. Kinda German, not really though. Contemporary Thai ‘art’ pictures on the walls, big hall-like seating area which makes it rather noisy…

Indian Restaurant Bawarchi [Review]

Hello and welcome to another mouthwatering my-thai.org episode. Since we take our food here seriously we were more than happy to add another experience to our food journey. This time we had the chance to dine at the Indian Restaurant Bawarchi. I don’t want to spoil the review below but it was really good and even while writing about it I already start to miss the bread! #Naan4Life Location The location of Bawarchi Restaurant is as convenient as it gets. Less than a five minute walk from BTS “Chidlom”, right…

Nong Real Seafood – Restaurant on Koh Larn

A better choice compared to the Puang Phayom restaurant that we tried before. It’s a bit further away from the action but therefore food is better and the staff is much nicer. Atmosphere It’s rather quiet there and since it’s a bit further away from the ‘centre’ it’s less likely to get really noisy. It offers some kind of sea view even though it’s not immediate (see the pictures below) but overall it has a rather chilled vibe to it which is nice while on a quick beach getaway. Food The…

Moon, Smile & Platoo Hua Hin [restaurant review]

When you’re getting hungry in Hua Hin and you’re around the main tourist area you are likely to pass Moon, Smile & Platoo. It’s located right in the heart of the old town and close to the walking street right off the sidewalk. There are a few restaurants that all look quite similar and Moon, Smile & Platoo is one of them. The second but last one to be precise. Location The location is quite good. Easy to find and to access (as mentioned in the intro). As easy as…

German Restaurant in Bangkok – Bei Otto

After 2.5 years it finally was about time, I simply had to do it. After so many of my friends already did it I had to find it out myself and went to that famous place. The German Restaurant. Bei Otto. I did have some self-made German food since coming to Thailand – but i mostly was some improvised self-made food in my home kitchen (which is not a real kitchen). So I was quite eager to finally eat some ‘real’ German food again. Schnitzel, Sauerkraut, Kartoffelsalat….I heard a lot…
