Chakri Day

April 6 is Chakri Day in Thailand, a public holiday to commemorate the founding day of the royal Chakri Dynasty. HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej was the ninth king (Rama IX) while his son, the current King of Thailand, HM King Vajiralongkorn is the current monarch. On Chakri Day, the king and other members of the royal family preside over a religious ceremony honoring the previous kings.
