Bello Dolce – Best Ice Cream in Hua Hin [restaurant review]

After having had some nice dinner in Hua Hin (either at Onn Onn Corner or Moon, Smile & Platoo) you might be thinking about an icy desert. Well there’s not much to think about since not far away from those places (close to the ‘center’) there is a Bello Dolce Ice Cream shop. Bello Dolce is a small ice cream chain in Hua Hin and has some rather nice ice cream restaurants around town. The ice cream is rather tasty and the ambiance is pretty chilled (ha!) and perfect to…

Baan Talay Dao Hua Hin [hotel review]

During our latest trip to Hua Hin we decided to try a different accommodation than usual and went with Baan Talay Dao at Kao Takiab. Our stay there was, well, let’s say there’s room to improve. Let’s break it down: How to get to Baan Talay Dao Hua Hin It’s rather easy if you don’t mind taking the local Song Teaw (mini bus). Just go to Hua Hin by van or train and then wait for the local green mini bus. It will cost you 10-15 THB per person all the way…

Moon, Smile & Platoo Hua Hin [restaurant review]

When you’re getting hungry in Hua Hin and you’re around the main tourist area you are likely to pass Moon, Smile & Platoo. It’s located right in the heart of the old town and close to the walking street right off the sidewalk. There are a few restaurants that all look quite similar and Moon, Smile & Platoo is one of them. The second but last one to be precise. Location The location is quite good. Easy to find and to access (as mentioned in the intro). As easy as…

Onn Onn Corner Hua Hin [restaurant review]

Every time Team My-Thai.org heads down to Hua Hin we end up at Onn Onn Corner at least once. It’s, in my opinion, one of the most decent & delicious places within the main tourist area on Bangkok’s quick beach getaway. Location Onn Onn Corner is located right next to the ‘walking street’ or, if you’re less into partying, close to the temple in the city centre. It is one of the open restaurants right off the sidewalk. There are quite a few next to each other; Onn Onn Corner…

New Hua Hin Night Market

During my latest visit to Hua Hin (Hua Hin Hotel review here!) I also had the chance to visit the new (compared to my last visit) night market. The old, Grand Night Market, still exists and still hosts the same food shops as before but lots of the other shops – clothing, music, art – seem to have moved. It is quite easy to find the ‘walking street’ in Hua Hin. It’s located off Phetkhasem Road (around Soi 93, close to Starbucks & Swensens). The ‘cool’ part however is not…

Hua Hin Hotel Review: D Varee Diva Kiang Haad Beach

During a short weekend trip to the seaside (I’m not trying to say that everybody has to go but I took a walk at the seaside) I happened to visit good old Hua Hin once again. This time however I didn’t choose a guesthouse but a nice hotel to stay in. The D Varee Diva Kiang Haad Beach Hotel. Here’s my review of it. D Varee Diva Kiang Haad Beach Exterior & Service D Varee is labeled as a 4-star hotel so it has to stand some tough criteria. When…

Guesthouse Review: Sunshine Guesthouse Hua Hin

During our short trip to Hua Hin we stayed away from noisy and party heavy Soi 61 but moved down to Soi 65 where the rooms might be a bit more expensive but therefore also more quiet. We ended up here at the Sunshine Guesthouse and had quite a good experience. The Rooms @ Sunshine Guesthouse Hua Hin The rooms are quite decent. The have rooms with a double bed for two persons or even bigger ones for three people. The prices vary from 700 THB (low season, smaller room)…

Hua Hin – Bangkok’s Beach Quickie

A question that comes up again and again is the question about the closest beach to Bangkok. When it comes to pure distance Bang Saen, Chonburi is probably the safest bet. Due to it’s lack in almost everything many Bangkokonians however usually avoid that area and rather head down towards Hua Hin. Hua Hin is not only just 2-3 hours away from Bangkok but also the residence of His Majesty the King of Thailand. The good things about Hua Hin are that it’s not too far away from Bangkok and that it…
