Rainy season is coming closer and closer and so is the rain itself. Right now there are heavy rainfalls on an almost daily basis. Nevertheless there are days where the sun still shines all the time and makes it almost impossible to stay outside without burning instantly. On the other hand there are days where you have to be scared to be flushed away when leaving your house. One of those days just happened the other day and was – according to my colleagues – just the beginning. Rainy season yay!
“Every year the same” is what the people here told me. That makes it even more surprising that they do not seem to be prepared for it. As soon as the heavy rain sets in the life in Udon and most parts of North Eastern – I’d even say almost everywhere in – Thailand comes to a sudden stop. People can not go to work, school or anywhere else. Or they do not want to / try to do it.
I thought when you experience something your whole life you might be able to predict it better or cope with it in a professional way but over here people simply stop doing their daily business and watch the rain….
So I think the rainy season will be a test for me and my patience. Sitting and waiting is usually not one of the things I can do very well but it somehow looks like there won’t be to many other possibilities.
